The relief is carved on a large rock near Thermes village and dates to the end of the 2nd or the beginning of the 3rd century A.D. In the centre of the frame, which symbolizes a cave, Mithras is depicted sacrificing the bull. To his left and right stand the god's retinue, Cautes and Cautopates. Mithras was the god of the sun and had Iranian origins.
